What is hooping?

Essentially hoop-dance (or hooping) is the art of dancing while spinning a large hula-hoop!

We use larger hoops than traditional children's hula-hoops which are therefore heavier and rotate slower, meaning there is plenty of time while dancing to spin tricks and perform lifts (picking the hoop up as it rotates). This also means that its easier to keep the hoop 'up'!

Using hoops specifically made for adult hoop-dance results in everyone being able to keep the hoop going...and going...and going....!

Hooping originally began with small hula-hoops for children...and has developed throughout the years into the phenomenon it is now. The hoop community is spreading rapidly across the globe...with the greatest population of hoopers spinning on the East and West coasts of the United States.

Read this article from Hooping.org about the resurgance of hooping entitled:

 'What Goes Around, Comes Around'

There are many different styles of hooping....fitness hooping, circus hooping, multiple hooping, freeform dance hooping, reverse/breaks hooping and everything in between. You can use the hoop as an off-body tool for dance, or you can circle it around any part of your body you want to.

More important than any of the above, hooping is simply EXTREMELY fun and never fails to make people smile!!
